A blog...I never thought I'd blog, be a blogger, or feel so compelled to blog. But so often I think of things I'd like to share with the world about this wonderful place I live called Rangeley, Maine.
Right now it's what I call the "Quiet Season" here in Rangeley. There's not enough snow for snowmobiles, very few skiers left in town, no boats on the lake (it's still covered in ice for another month or so), too gritty on the roads for motorcycles, roads have been posted so no heavy trucks are running, and nearly 50% of the folks I know have gone somewhere else to escape the growing expanse of mud in their yards as the snow melts during these 50 degree, sunny days. Restaurants will start their yearly spring rotation of closing for a few weeks at time. There's very little traffic in town even in the middle of the day.
It's quiet...very quiet. Maybe the birds are all you hear. It's a welcome and needed respite from the busy-ness of the winter season. Now is a good time to pause, reflect, breathe, make plans for your garden, your summer, your life before we launch into another busy season of summer here in the western mountains of Maine. Shhhhhh.........
Welcome to Rangeley!
